BASIC INFORMATION

FILE UPLOADS

We require a letter of recommendation from a faculty member who knows you well. There is no specific format for the letter, but in general, it should indicate why your recommender think you are a good fit for Semester Cinema. We want to hear about any academic, creative, or interpersonal skills that have prepared you for the imagination, commitment and collaboration the program asks of its students.

Please have your recommender submit to Nicole Doerges at nicoleldoerges@gmail.com. If you would like to submit a letter from someone other than a faculty member, contact Nicole.

Letter of Recommendation Acknowledgement
I understand that my recommender will need to submit my letter of recommendation BY MY APPLICATION DEADLINE in order to complete my application.

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS

CREATIVE SUBMISSION (OPTIONAL)

Upload any creative work you'd like to have considered as part of your application (i.e. film projects, writing excerpts, still photography, music compositions, etc.). You can submit links directly to the project (i.e. Youtube, Vimeo) or a link to a Google Drive folder.

Remember to check sharing permissions to allow access to your submission!

FINANCIAL AID

Most currently participating institutions will cover tuition costs. This means students pay their normal tuition amount (including any financial aid granted by the home institution) to their college, and their college then pays any remaining tuition expenses to Semester Cinema. These schools include:

  • Bates

  • Bowdoin

  • Hamilton

  • Kenyon

  • Skidmore

  • Spelman

  • Swarthmore

  • Wofford

However, some schools do not cover tuition costs. This means students who need support to cover the cost of tuition will need to apply for Semester Cinema financial aid. These schools include:

  • Sarah Lawrence

  • Mount Holyoke

If you do not attend one of the schools listed above, your tuition may or may not be covered by your home institution. Please check with your Global / Off-Campus Studies office and/or check with us. We’ll be glad to help in any way we can.

Does your school cover the cost of tuition?
